Keith,
Are you cruising to the BVI? Or, will you be cruising in the BVI? If you
are going to be on a charter in the BVI, the charter company will provide
you with paper chart and brief you about it. They don't call it sailors'
paradise for no reason; extremely easy to navigate about the BVI. We have
spent 6-8 weeks in the BVI annually for the past 22 years and consider it
our home waters. Be happy to answer any questions you might have about the
area.
If you are making a passage to the BVI, then you definitely need paper
charts even if you also have electronic charts. We always use both and
would never feel comfortable relying strictly on electronics.

Subject: [world-cruising] BVI charts???
This will probably be a rudimentary question for many of you experienced
cruisers. But it's baffling to me. I'm a novice cruiser and doing my first
BVI
trip this summer. I want to purchase charts ahead of time and would love to
read opinions as to what's the best way to go-- traditional paper charts,
chart
book, electronic charts, some combination. Any help would be greatly
appreciated! Thanks in advance... Keith
