Bound Printed Matter IS magazines. The rate formerly known as Book

as Larry correctly notes it is for stuff without advertisements.

I have shipped pounds and pounds of books and magazines over the last
year or two. The Bound Printed Matter rate is actually CHEAPER than
the Media Mail rate especially at the higher weights. It is the
absolute cheapest way to ship stuff. But you can't have any packages
over 16 lbs because then it defaults to regular Parcel Post rate which
    is MUCH higher

The other thing I am told by postal workers (after many discussions)
is that BPM mail will not be forwarded or returned, whereas I'm pretty
sure Media Mail (and of course regular Parcel Post) will be.
