I use a Top Climber for all my mast work. A couple
months ago I removed a solid Stearns Twin stay
aluminum forestay and replaced it with wire----going
up + down in the Top Climber to remove old stay and
attach new---had to make 5 trips up+ down in a couple
days to fine tune lengths etc. It's slow and tiring
--- the rhythm of pushing up one ascender, resting
(either sitting or standing, depending), raising the
other ascender, resting etc. is a bit demanding (and
no less tiring when coming down). But it works and you
can always rest. I did my forestay work while on a
mooring ball in the Hudson river, NY city.
