What ever! But if you come close to being run down there is probably a
reason. You! I agree take your advice from anyone. It matters not to
me.
Have a good day(not advice just a wish)
John

John,
That's a terrible thing to say! I mean, the paragraph you quote starts
by saying, "if you feel the need to keep a watch... so obviously it's
the reader's choice but then you say that their advice is better left
unsaid???
I want to hear what others have to say. It's up to me to decide if I
want to head their advice/experience or not, not yours.
You do add a valuable comment by saying, "Ships don't tend to alter
course for small sailing/fishing vessels" but perhaps the rest of your
advice was better left unsaid???
Peter,
I'm glad to listen to your experiences. Your experience has been similar
to mine.

Quote:
If you feel the need to keep a watch, you can set the schedule up to fit
your internal clocks.
That's not say that a watch isn't required in the shipping lanes. We
came
witin an eyelash of being rundown off Santa Barbara by a BFCS. Despite
turning on every light we had on the boat, the ship never altered course
or
showed any sign of seeing us. Fortunately, we surfed out of danger on
the
bow wave or we'd have been fish bait. Along the East Coast, saw lots of
ships and they all seemed to see us.
Well I suppose opinions and certain body parts are supplied to
everyone. If you don't want to keep a watch that is your business but
that kind of advice is better left unsaid. Ships don't tend to alter
course for small sailing/fishing vessels. But hey, the fish need to eat
also!
I don't like to flame(really) but bad advice is just that. Sorry for
the rant.
John
