Hi Deb,
I've read several of the replies to your question about medical insurance and I will agree that outside the States the medical costs are quite a bit less and most times the care is excellent. I have a friend that now lives in Thailand and has for many years. I met him while working in Seoul Korea where we were both staying at the same Hotel. He had just moved his elderly father to Thailand for "better" care at a reasonable price. Unless you are in a remote place you will find that many of the larger cities especially in Asia have excellent care facilities. For this reason when I leave Florida I won't continue to carry any private insurance, just put some money aside for problems and if necessary come back to the US and make use of Medicare Care as a last resort. Australia and New Zealand I have heard also have very good medical facilities. I'm not that knowledgable about Europe, South America or Africa but would like to know about them myself.

I'm sure this is a common concern, but what do you do about medical insurance and treatment when outside US waters?? I have just begun researching.
