    Thomas,

I have a split rig too, though yawl, and would appreciate a detailed
statement of all that you've done beyond the standard manufacturer's
ketch configuration, to facilitate single-handing on your boat.

I read in Hal Roth's recent book on sailing around the world, that he
used pairs of fiddle blocks attached to the boom with lines to the
cockpit, to control the main boom with great success hence avoiding boom
vangs, preventers, etc., and am considering doing the same, i.e. I'm
seeking experience from single handers with boats around 40'.

    Cordially,

    Courtney
