I agree that a paper chart, in my case printed from a chartography program
onto waterproof paper from Celistare or maybe just on plain paper, are
highly desirable.
However, my 6 year old Garmin 12 can download nav aids, and has charts in
it, and is waterproof and rugged, so often is a big help in the cockpit,
meaning less reliance on the paper. The downside is the screen is smallish
and not all the nav aids are listed. However, newer models have all the aids
and larger screens as well, don't know how rugged thay are.
Another option that I am considering is a flat screen in the cockpit
connected via bluetooth. -Ken
