I had it for years and I will have it again on my next boat:

PC-based navigation for me, using one of the new low power PC's (like or
    similar to http://www.digitallogic.com/english/products/mobile/mpcx.asp)
a notebook for backup and "private" stuff ( I do my bookkeeping on
board), A3 printer and scanner, allows me to print the charts where we
will sail next and use them on the Yeoman, as, in an emergency, lets me
scan charts on board if I have no access to anything else. waterproof
keyboards and mice are no problem nowadays any more.

Nav-Pa k pro, permits usage of home-scan charts as well as commercial
bitmap and vector charts, ARPA, AIS etc, etc........

Yeoman pro, a paper chart plotter every fool can operate as long as
(s)he is able to use tape and pencil

Visual Passage Planner, as the name says, worldwide pilot chart data at
    1° intervall

wxtide32, tides world wide, never had a problem with this wonderful free
    program

    XEROX, weather software

what I am missing and because I did not know it is not produced any
more, errorously sold with my last boat and I would be happy if anyone
    could help:
we had 8 personal epirbs transmitting 121.5MHz and a direction finder,
bulkhead permanent mounted with a 4"led-ring indicating the direction to
    go.
The company seamarshall still exists, but their prices nowadays are
beyond good and bad. Once you leave US or European waters you should for
sure be able to find the over board crew yourself and this device worked
    perfectly.
