      I am new to this site also. If I were going to put a mooring in
    any River I would put in the largest I could. This would also be
    based on the current. For the weight you are talking about use at
    least 400 lb. mushroom anchor.

      If you can get one from Boat/US I would use their anchor because
    of the plate they have at the top of the mooring anchor. I would
    also use 3/4" chain as the bottom of the chain with a 3/4" swivle
    and then another swivle at the buoy. plus 2 rodes of at least 7/8".
