I bought a pilot house boat and steer from inside, before that, my Bristol 32 being a very wet boat, the glasses were a problem. They were usually covered by salt spray several times an hour. The basketball player glasses you mentioned are sports goggles, should be easily avail, but still will get spray on the front.
Have you tried your contacts in the salt spray? I was wondering if they would be good for me, I lost one expensive pair of glasses in a fracas with a fish. Anyone else that can comment on contacts and salt spray?

I've been searching, looking for a way to solve the problem for some
time now and have been unable to find something that "fits" what I
want or would like to have. When I broached the problem with my
doctor in the past, he has been unable to suggest something that
works. Before I go back to the doctor again, I thought I'd check with
the list to see if anyone has solved the "problem."

The "problem" is that my wife and I both wear glasses; largely for
reading. I wear soft contacts (disposable) for about two weeks (24/7)
and then throw them away. They work well for me. My wife doesn't wear
contacts, just glasses but she has about three (or more) pairs spread
between work and various places at home. At sea, there will be times
when there will be spray, drizzle, and driving rain as well as bright
sun. In these conditions I don't think contacts would work too well.
