I'll second that. Well said Scott.

All I ask of my maker is a clean death and I know that's asking a lot.

You should't worry about risks, you should manage risks. Those who can't manage risk should stay on dryland on a couch in front of a television set to enjoy that form of reality in a minimal risk environment.

I use the Serenity Prayer to guide my life, the Serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the Courage to change those things I can and the Wisdom to know the difference between the two.

Maybe I'll flip a cat someday, maybe I'll flood and sink a monohull heeled over too far. C'est ma vie.

IF you want to go cruising, you have to prioritize your worries.
In the past three years that I have actively been cruising, I
think that I have heard of no monohulls (cruisers) sinking on a
blue water passage (failing to make port). No multis (cruising multis)
have capsized. Probably 6 or 8 boats have been abandoned in
seaworthy condition only to be found floating after the storm.
Hundreds of boats have dragged anchor. Hundreds have run aground
on well-known reefs named hundreds of years ago by the first
sailor to run aground on them. Statistically, whether your boat
sinks or capsizes is simply not a concern.

    -Scott

TOTALLY agree with all of that and most of what you wrote (that i cut out)
too - though i have heard of a few sinkings of monos so it can be something to
consider for sure not worry about but then this is my mindset your and others
will of course differ - like i said in another thread you don't need a blue
water boat just a blue water mindset.

    regards

    David
