Years ago I had a friend on a sloop in the Mediteranean who had an
alsatian on board. They were weather bound for 5 days and the dog
couldn't be taken ashore, some dogs cannot go to the toilet on a
rolling yacht. At the end of the 5 days the poor animal had to be taken
to a Vet as it was so constipated it would have died otherwise. Animals
on yachts are a human luxury, the dog is only there under sufferance to
its owner.
