I'd also like to take a minute to quickly introduce myself to the group. My lifelong
dream has been to live on a boat and cruise the warm climes. I'm now less than 4
years from retirement and the dream seems to be in sight. My wife and I cruised
summers and weekends on Puget Sound and the Hood Canal in Washington on our
23' Jay Benford canoe yawl for about 12 years. We've since sold her and are
concentrating on getting the house fixed up so we can close it up and sail when we
retire. I briefly flirted with the idea of building my own boat but found out
(fortunately before it was too late) that I just wasn't cut out for it. After a trip to
Vancouver Island (Barkley Sound) with friends a year or two ago, we decided we
wanted more comfort during drizzly (or worse) weather watches than the
conventional sailboat affords. So we're currently considering various pilothouse
boats, notably the Gulf 32 because it seems to be stout and the used ones are in our
price range. Looking forward to following this group.
