The problem with this idea, that is using a 'solar fabric' to generate a
practical amount of usable power, is that it cannot take full advantage of
the solar generation potential since the fabric will seldom be facing the
sun, and also the fabric may be very good at being a solar panel (if facing
the sun) but clothing, much less sails, have many other requirements, such
as stretch resistance, abrasion resistance, moisture tolerance, etc, and I
think it would be difficult to achieve good performance for both sets of
requirements. Never mind the fact that sails are already too expensive!
Maybe the military can afford it. But to me it sounds like another pie in
the sky idea that is hyped to reap investment $.
