If my memory serves me..., listen out at 0500 gmt and 1700gmt for RADIO OLYMPICOS on VHF CH16 "all ships, all ships.." etc. and they'll then direct you to the relevant channel for a met forecast in English. (Ch number varies with location)

It's a good idea to take along a small voice recorder and get the down on tape (chip?) for listening to at leisure - the accent of the announcer is often too heavy to decipher first time around. The forecasters refer to sea areas as they are know in Greece - Saronic, Cretan Sea, Jason etc. so your friend will also need the relevant map in order to know which area he's interested in. The Cyclades fall into either SW Aegean or SE Aegean.

One word of advice based on observations - if you wake up on a summer morning in the Cyclades and the topsides are drenched in dew - it's gonna blow!

    Hi all,

a friend of mine is chartering a boat in the Cyclades this Sept and
asked me if I know of any weather services that would be accessible to
    him whilst there.

I believe we have several members cruising the med, so wondered what you
are using. Any pointers that I can pass on to him?

    Thanks
    Andy
