I don't see a problem with putting some ceramic into a counter top.
Sounds very nice. I have ceramic tile behind my wood burning stove.
I wonder if 3/8" is thick enough for the under layment? You don't want
any flex. Consider 1/2". Also, I would consider sealing the plywood,
perhaps with a coat of epoxy, so it does not rot if any water does get
through. Must have some variations in thickness of ceramic vs. Formica
to sort out?
