I'm assuming we're talking about the Picton Castle. The hold of this
ship is very large and pretty dry. I would not worry too much about
putting any kind of desicant in the boxes. Put the books in the boxes,
and if you want any additional protection, consider wrapping the boxes
with heavy duty garbage bags and duct tape. I've used the strategy
successfully on many occasions to protect cardboard boxes of goods from
moisture and abrasion underway in environments far more hazardous than
the Picton Castle's.
