    Mike,

I thought someone would have some suggestions on this since lots of
boats have this material and those people with the older boats have
likely had to face this at some time.

Seems like a very long time ago, I used a powdered cleanser of some
sort to do that. I think it was something like Comet or Ajax with
some fine steel wool. Of course, it was probably in the neighborhood
of 30 or 40 years ago so I don't remember it too much except that it
was a lot of work. Not sure if it had the desired effect or not. I
presume that you have already tried regular household sink cleansers
including the non-destructive brands for plastic and the like. Have
you given any thought to rubbing compound of the type that you would
use on a car or gelcoat? Tried using them with an orbital polisher to
take some of the "elbow grease" out of the job? If it's bad enough,
the prospect of damaging it might not be a detriment to trying more
    extreme methods.

If nothing else works, you might consider replacing it entirely.
Today, I doubt the cost of formica is that great. It would probably
be more of a PITA to do rather than a cost factor.

    Good luck.

    Rick
