I have designed and tested a neat circut that is a bilge pump controler. It
uses the existing two wires
that already go to the existing bilge pump/float switch on most boats, and
adds only a second switch mounted at a higher water level (conneted to the
same voltage supply as the original single switch)
and this controler. The result is that when the low switch turns on nothing
happens, then when the high switch turns on the pump operates until the low
switch turns off.
The much larger difference in water level that can be acheived by using two
switches totaly elimantes 'backwash' and pump cycling.
The circuit design includes an optional over-ride function that is actuated
by simply turning the pump breaker off then on, at which point the pump will
operate until the pump is turned off and left off for a few seconds then
turned back on again, at which time the controler re-sets.
I am willing to send the schematic and wiring diagrams, with all the (cheap
Radio Shack) parts listed on the schematic to anybody who wants it. Anybody
who is even a bit proficient with a soldering iron and multimeter could
build it in short order.-Ken
