Hi James
well, I agree with you, the loss of my boat would not put me on
bankruptcy, but I would have to switch to a daysailor and go fishing
(this is NOT against fishing!), I just feel to old to start a boat
building project for a circumnavigation again. Worse could happen than
building a smaller boat. As you might have read before, with cars and
other stuff I prefer to take the risk. With the boat insurance it is
same matter of price, would it be as low as a fire insurance, I'd take
it, for an average mans monthly income, I will probably leave it.
I was only very surprised about quadruple fees despite fixed deductibles
of $ 15,000 and an unsinkable boat. The insurance should only be
protection for the ultimative disaster. But maybe there are to many true
(?) stories nowadays like the one happened last year as a sunken motor
yacht was found by chance (testing a new robot-submarine-camera) in the
Mediterranean Sea. The owner is asked now how it happened that his ships
two engines and drives are missing....
