    Greetings,

We are an American couple, been on the list a long time, preparing for a
trip to UK & Ireland in 2007.

As far as I can tell, the 'normal' tourist visa, or passport entry stamp,
is valid for 90 days. Clearly, after sailing across the Atlantic, we
would like to stay more than 90 days. Indeed, we would like to stay a
    couple of years.

In drilling around on the UK Visas website I can find no provision for
long-stay tourism. I have e-mailed the UK Consul in Seattle (nearest to
our home port) but have had no reply. Has anybody any practical
experience in this matter? I'm sure this is being done all the time, I
just can't find the classification that permits it.

    Much thanks!

    Chris McKesson
