Has anyone on the list done the eastward route round the Indian Ocean, from
South Africa curving north and then east and ending up around Thailand, for
    instance?

We do know WHY people go west but we also know many people travel up from
South Africa, and that's the route we'd like to take, but would love to hear
people with experience of this particular route - what time of year did you
do what legs, and what did you experience?

    Thanks!

    Best wishes
    Jo Holloway
