There are some pretty good LPU paints that come out great when brushed on as
opposed to spraying it. So in that case you can do it yourself. The paint
    will run $150.00 to $200.00 a gallon.
I was very skeptical when I first read about brushing on paints like that
but after reading a article in professional boatbuilder I found out that
even some high end custom yacht builders brush the paints on.

I had such great results from the food thread I
    thought I'd try another.

I've been *watching* a boat in ads for several months.
It's a boat smaller than what we would ideally like.
But I like the design and the general layout. I think
it could be nice. The problem is that the hull is
black. Now I know black hulls are great in the
northern part of the world but in the southern part
they are a good deal warmer or so I've heard. I don't
have the wish to remain in the northern part of the
world except maybe in summer when it's warm too.

The question is can black hulls be painted and receive
the lower temperatures that I would expect from white
hulls? Seems like a *no brainer* to me because the
white paint should be able to reflect the sun and the
heat would be less. But something keeps holding me
back from taking a close look. Everytime I see a
picture of the hull I back away. Now it has dropped in
price by $5k USD and the itch is starting to get
tougher to ignore. It's not the $ since I could easily
access equity in the house and do it immediately and
I've seen other boats that are larger but not exactly
what we've been looking for that are also in our price
range. Some even less and are good boats.

Worth looking at even knowing I would need to paint
it? I would think a hull paint job would be fairly
costly too. Probably that $5k and then some. Any ideas
    on cost per linear foot?

    Thanks.
