    Have had the same idea a couple of years ago. There have been some DC
    generators advertised in the West coast Yachting mags. I contacted on
    manufacturer. He used a small liquid cooled Kubota, the intent was for
    it to run at low speeds for long periods of time. At low speeds the
    noise output was negligible. He told me of one he had sold to a remote
    cabin site in AK. The customer had it running continuously at about 800
    RPM's into a battery bank for 5 years. Only stopped for oil changes. The
    battery bank took care of the variations in load.

    My thought was an aircooled sound proofed installation in a cockpit seat
    using a Hatz diesel.
