I put mast steps in mine while the mast was in place. The most difficult
aspect was overcoming my fear of heights.

My mast has two internal conduits for the electrical cables. The conduits
are fastened in place by rivets, and the rivet heads are visible on the
outside of the mast. So, I have no problem locating the conduits.

Are there any holes in your mast now where you can see the internal conduit?
Exit slots for halyards, attachment points for spreaders or shrouds?? I
don't know if a cable-finder would help, but I suspect it wouldn't, as the
    metal mast would defeat it.
