    Joe, I can't answer your questions, but will add a couple of items for
    thought. First, glazing materials differ. Some glass is exceptionally
    strong, and is rated to absorb the forces a boat might encounter if hit by a
    wave. Second, often the point of failure is the frame - both the materials
    used and the method of attachment to the boat.
