Lynn, we are in your same situation. Age 47 now, planning on 'retiring'
(quitting) in a couple of years - i.e. pre-social security.
We are in the process of opening a Euro bank account (Lloyds TSB "Offshore
Club.") It doesn't pay interest, but if I can discipline myself to an
enforced savings program it would still be good to salt away savings in
another currency, as a hedge against exactly this issue.
