First off Bill I like your site, lots of reading and links. And
Dwight I am definately looking for sailing experience. I am not sure
what I want in a boat yet. Several years ago (right after my Divorce)
I was a live aboard on a 27' Chris Craft. Just about 3 years total,
and I must say some of the best 3 years. On that size boat you
certainly plan what you own, no room for excess. I started looking
at Trawlers in the 40 to 46' range, then motorsailers of the same
size and now I am leaning towards a cruising sailboat in the mid 40'
range. As for sailing I am quite rusty, but I have crewed on a Olson
30 in the Stockton sailing clubs South Tower Race. It is from
Stockton to the South Tower of the golden gate bridge and back. Also
a local weekend race known as Franks Tract Regata. But that was
awhile ago. It turns out my neighbor and his brother are very active
in club racing so I plan to start hitching a ride whenever posible.
I have a feeling the next few years are going to fly by... Jerry
