    Steve and Linda Dashew have talked about shaft
    altenators in thier world crusing book, as well as
    adding a second shaft with prop just to use as a
    sailing DC power sorce. My Transmission, and many
    others must be locked in place while sailing, because
    the lube comes from the engine end of the
    transmission.
