I am mostly a lurker on this group, but I have enjoyed the lively
discussion regarding cruising boats. Here is a link to a site that is
very well done with video and a running log/diary of the fellows
journey on a Westsail 28. I believe that this boat has been mentioned
in the group of "best" boats. Regarding best boats, it has been
suggested that the best boat is the one you have or can afford,
regardless of pedigree. It is always better to be out sailing than to
to be at home dreaming of sailing. The Yahoo group
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/LowCostVoyaging is a proponent of that
philosophy. By the way, I sail a 1968 Contest 30. She is a modified
(cutaway forfoot) full keeler, fairly narrow and heavy CCA style
sloop, but built in Holland, like a tank, for North Sea sailing.
See you on the water. Tom
