That's good to know, since that is my plan. :) I'm buying the yacht
real soon now (have to sell the condo first) and then the over the
next 3-4 years I will gain experience and confidence day-sailing and
weekending in So. California's Channel Islands, then the summer of
2007 or 2008, depending on when I am ready mentally and financially,
I'll quit my job and sail the islands full-time for the summer. Then
that October I will leave with the Baja Ha-Ha regatta for Cabo San
Lucas, and spend a season cruising the Sea of Cortez and Mexico.
After that, I'll have three choices: quit because it wasn't what I
thought it would be (unlikely I hope!), or head south to the canal and
enter the western Carribean, or head west and cross the Pacific.
Thailand and East Asia beckons me, so I imagine I will take the 3rd
choice and head west. I've also learned to SCUBA and got my open
water cert this year, so I am partial to cruising grounds where there
is great diving to be done.
