    Or they have gensets for those things. Except for refrigeration we
    can generate our own power to keep the battery banks charged etc. I
    know that some people can also run their refrigeration without running
    their engines.

    For long stretches of ocean there are times and places where the need
    to proceed (whether powered or under sail) has to be balanced against
    weather, health, and various supplies like water and food.

    I've met them two and I have a couple of their books and a video.
    However, I do not think they come into all ports under sail. They get
    someone to volunteer to tow them in.
