Howdy --
I joined yesterday - I look forward to learning what I need to do to get
ready fo an extended cruise. Some of it is wishful thinking - I became
disabled a few years ago and held on to our Catalina 27 until last May when
I finally decided to stop throwing money away. That boat was the basis for
many fond memoris for my wife & I but it was time to let it go to someone
who could enjoy her.
Now, I will hopefully recover someday and will start looking for a blue
water cruiser for the time we'll be able to cast off and sail into the
rising sun - we're on the east coast. An Allied Princess Ketch of perhaps a
Pearson 38 Ketch are at the top of my list but I'm open to all
possibilities. Ideally, I'd like to find a solidly build but abandoned 38
or so in a marina storeyard needing TLC that I could truck home so it would
be close for me to work on.
There was a Cuttyhunk.38 at my old marina like that - it had been there for
15 years but it just wasnt the right time to buy her. There are some great
boats out there and if I get serious about buying I'm sure I can find one.
I hope this list will keep the dream alive and help me in my planning --
I've always wanted to visit the South Pacific but that's a loooong sail
between Panama and Tahiti! But I;d like to try it.
Anyway - I'm in Va. --
Sincerely,
Larry T
