    Robert,

Great story, especially the 22' crossing, my kinda guy.

I'd be reluctant to have the Governement interfere ianymore in our
lives than they already do. I'd regard being "saved" as part of the
taxes I have paid all my working life.

Out at sea I am not using any of the normal land-things my taxes are
still going to so I see the rescue as my share. Once I break away fom
sight of land my tax bill is still mounting on my investments and the
IRS will have it's hand out come April next year.

If I was doing something really stupid like going to the UK in a 25'
cabin cruiser and towing a 2000 gallon tank of fuel behind then I'd
certainly not expect to be "saved".

However outfitting a boat with a very sensible range of items to
ensure the maximum safety and then being rescued is just my share of
the tax dollars that land-lubbers are enjoying transparently.

Smaller Government is the cry NOT larger!!

    Dave
