It is pretty pointless to try to influence anybody who has already
absolutely made up there mind on what they are going to do. And I do not
    like to dampen anybody's
enthusisaim for having challenging goals. Also, I am not suggesting that the
recent post regarding taking off cruising with very little experiance or
    preperations is un-doable.

However, I do find it illogical to assume that you do not know enough about
a paticular subject to make a good judegment, ask for advice from people who
presumably know a bit more about it, then steadfastly refuse any of the
    advice you don't like!
And I am not suggesting this is happening, although it does seem possible.

So, my suggestion is this; we humans have a wonderful way of sharing
embodied experiances in the written word. The poster sounds like a fast
learner. Get all the written material you can find in libraries, bookstores,
and on the net. Take it in. Then if you have the time...practice some of it.
Starting with determing what sort of sailing you want to do and what sort of
boat is suitable to achive these goals (there are no "bad" boats, only boats
    used for the wrong purposes).

If you are unwilling or unable to either do this or by some other method
learn from the mistakes of those who have done, or have attempted to do,
what you are considering, then you will almost certainly repeat their
mistakes. Yes, it is only $, but then there is you.
And regardless of what others may say, the Ocean can be a very risky place
to learn fundemenals, and there is a lot more to bluewater sailing than just
    sailing.

What I do not understand is why such a hurry? Is there an Island on fire
somewhere? ;-) Take it easy, mon' -Ken
