Hi Dave - maybe on your budget you want consider instead taking that
Goldwing on a ride to South Florida, or maybe take it on a drive
through Mexico to Mazatlan, Puerto Vallarta or Z-town. Take yourself
some place where yachties hang out before they take off across the
ocean. Lots of cruising skippers need crew, and the only
qualifications they need from you are just being able-bodied, eager to
go, and willing to learn (and able to pay your own expenses). No
experience necessary, but you will start getting it right away. And
your funds will hold out a lot longer not having to pay for all the
boat maintenance. That means more time to stay "out there" and
satisfy your wanderlust. And you'll make lots of friends crewing on
other people's yachts.
What do you think? Is it really necessary for you to be the skipper
and the owner of the boat in order to have this adventure?
