Thanks, Mike. I understand what you mean regarding differences in tiller
pressure. I've had tillers ripped from my hands when going in reverse and
shifting rudder. Lotta pressure! Some of that pressure exists when going
in forward with a spade (or "balanced") rudder, as opposed to a skeg-hung or
keel-hung rudder.
At the moment, the name escapes me, but I remember the Valiant you sailed
and her owner. I'd forgotten that she had a tiller.
