Robert, I'm no ballistics expert. I was simply supporting the statements of
a person I know and trust against an unprovoked attack.

The van de Stadt 47 is a design I've admired for years. The design is quite
flexible; I suspect I would not select a fractional rig for the exact
reasons you specify, and I would design an interior to suit my needs. This
model was chosen by Beth Leonard and Evans Starzinger as their ideal
cruising boat, after circumnavigating on a Shannon 38. If you do a web
search on Beth, you may find details of their selection, construction, and
outfitting of "Hawk". Very impressive boat.
I'm not looking to change. My boat is paid for; there are no funds for
another. If and when I sell Capella, it will be because my cruising days
are over, and I'll buy a smaller boat for casual sailing.
