Thank you everyone for your responses about the best boat for
cruising with kids. I appreciate your responses. Due to budget
constraints we cannot afford a multi-hull sailboat. I do think they
are great and that one would be a great family sailing boat but we
just can't afford it and be able to afford to sail away too.
So in the interest of budget we are going to need to stay in the
$50,000-$60,000 or 65,000 ish range - maybe up to $70,000 for the
right boat. The point is that the more we spend on a boat we
realize that the maintenance issues will be bigger and more
expensive, therefore possibly shortening our cruising time.
I have seen alot of Beneteau's in that price range that appear to be
in pretty good shape. Do any of you know much about the Beneteau's -
in the 38 - 44' range? Are these well made boats and good for blue
water sailing and also spacious enough for a family.
We think the deck and cabin space is also important to us because we
hope to spend much of our time above board. We think 2 heads would
make life a little easier with young teens. I know that the galley
area is important, especially to feed a family of 4.
Thanks again,
Valerie
