Hi, we took a year off and cruised from San Diego to Milwaukee by truck and
then to Georgetown in the Bahamas by boat. My daughters were 9 and 11 at
the time. We've got a great website with lots of pictures and copies of my
cruising log - somewhat of a cross between a cruising book and a guide.
Take a look and let me know what you think!

    www.indiscipline.org <http://www.indiscipline.org> Cruise 2000 and Cruise
2001 are what you are interested in, plus CJs Log.

Indiscipline 2 was our cruising boat, I am now greatly enjoying Indiscipline
3 - a 1978 Catalina 25 - during this time of my life in between major
    voyages.

Look into the Calvert School if your kids are Middle School age or below.
Brigham Young University has a High School course. My kids did the Calvert
School and both got straight As when they returned to the regular program.

Favorite Books: Bernard Moitessier's books (all 4 of them), Jim Moore: By
way of the Wind, and Swan the Second Voyage, Herb Payson: Blown Away and You
Can't Blow Home Again, John Kretshmeyer's Flirting with Mermaids. That's a
good start, I've got hundreds of sailing books.

    Hello everyone,
We are new to this site. We are planning to starting doing some
cruising next summer, when school is out and then if we all like it
we may continue cruising and homeschool the kids. Do any of you
have any experience cruising with children? Any and all advice
would be appreciated. Also, we are reading all the books we can
find on crusing. Any books that you would reccommend?

We have an 11 yo and a 13 yo that will be traveling with us.
What type of cruising boat would you reccommend that we start to
look at with children of these ages that will allow all of us a
little space from each other when we need it, not that there is much
space on a boat miles from shore. They are old enough to help us
but also old enough to drive each other crazy too.

We are sick of this crazy work, work, work world we live in. We just
want to slow life down a little and enjoy our kids while they are
    still young enough.

    Thanks for all your help,
    Valerie
