    From the beginning, I've been saying that the *installation* and maintenance
    of gear will affect its usefulness and longevity...and that *installation*
    expenses must be considered as part of the expense of any item.

    Change the zinc, lube annually...both of which are not maintenance items on
    a fixed prop.

    I'll give you that one. I suspect, though, that a hand-held GPS wasn't what
    the OP was asking about.
