    Yes it was - basically the OP wanted to know if some items were so
    expensive to maintain that it would not be appropriate to get them.

    You said that in order for someone to determine whether an item was or
    was not monetarily appropriate, one had to know about the installation
    and maintenance of the item. I was disputing that.

    So my assertion that the installation of solar panels did not matter
    was intended just as an example of a piece of equipment for a boat
    where there were no moving parts to go wrong so that maintenance would
    not be a monetary consideration.

    I don't think that when considering people's experience of whether
    solar panels are a costly item in terms of maintenance that one needs
    to know anything about the installation of the panels.
