There are sea anchors made with a "trip line" to enable easy recovery.

A few years ago, the Caribbean 1500 fleet was hit by the remnants of a
hurricane (Mitch?) on their way to Tortola. A couple of boats were
abandoned, and a few others were damaged.

Some rode out the storm on their sea anchors. They were successful and
comfortable. The bad part came the following day after conditions abated.
It seems the big parachutes were impossible to recover, despite using them
according to directions. They had to be cut away.

So plan on treating your sea anchor like your liferaft. One and done.
