    Fin keel boats are vulnerable to rolling over when laying ahull. You can't
    take big breaking waves on your beam. Keep steering your boat. I have
    those orange anchor stablizer cones rigged on lines with mushroom anchors
    (they really work) and I could always drag them if I really needed to slow
    down. They are also cheap. Cutting them away would be no great loss.
