When I started in the Coast Guard, several ships were still equipped with
WWII-era guns, which were no longer in production. Spare parts became
difficult to find; eventually we were going to military museums in search of
parts to keep the guns operating. When those sources dried up, we got new
guns.
Eventually, your sources for spare parts for your oldie but goodie equipment
will disappear. Make sure you have good options before that day comes.
