I just purchased a 8 HP Yamaha 2 stroke at the Miami boat show. I looked at the 8 HP and the 9.9 HP 4 stroke. After picking up each one.
Yamaha 59 lbs
Merc / Nissan (lightest 4 stroke) 84 lbs
I went with the ligher weight. 25 lbs does not seem like a lot, but on a pitching sea and leaning over tring to get the engine off .... 25 lbs seems like 100!
Paid $1,400 for the 8 HP Yamaha.
Will go on one of the new "lite" Avon Ribs wich has a weight of 92 lbs.
