I have a friend who sailed to Cuba twice. He loved it. Not sure where
he is now so I can't contact him. But. there are at least two cruising
guides to Cuba at our local West Marine book store. I hear it is
wonderful to sail there and that the people are very friendly. However,
my friend did say there were arm guards around the marina in Havana to
prevent Cubans from escaping on the boat. The up side of that was he
didn't worry about leaving is boat unattended.

Subject: [world-cruising] Cuba
Last year I bicyled the south coast of Cuba up to Santiago de Cuba
and was very pleased with the remote experience from Pilon to
Santiago. I did not see so much as a single sail in the horizon on
this beautiful stretch of shoreline for the entire time. Firstly,
why? and 2ndly I would appreciate any reference to sailing articles
about this area.
Thanks... Gary
