Not necessarily.
For example, in this group email attachments are not permitted. That should
eliminate the possibility of receiving a virus or worm through a list email.
If you sign up for a group, there is now a procedure where the individual
must type in a word as shown in an image. That's there to prevent the
automated systems spammers use to register for a site, then spam it.
This group was formed because its predecessor had been overrun by spammers.
The list owner must approve the first message from any new member before its
posted. That also keeps the spammers away.
This has been a very spam-free list. My congratulations.
