    Al,

I use an old Dell P2 Laptop but it needs 22VDC to top up the battery.
The normal boat supply is not enough to keep the battery pack properly
charged and thus I looked at alternatives. I found a HAM in FL that
manufactures a neat device which boosts the voltage to that needed for
my laptop. You will find that most laptops need more voltage than what
you can get from the boats supply. I have used an inverter as well but
they are too big and cumbersome when you do not really need one. Have a
    look at:

    Hi All,
I have read about cruisers having laptops onboard. Is anyone using
solar power to keep the batteries charged? Is setting this up a big
deal? How big of a panel do you need?

    TIA
