My wife and I are planning on heading off this year, later in the season
for some slow, long term cruising, heading towards Australia (as a
start). With the seemingly boundless enthusiasm and energy caused by
winter, I was wondering what we could do to prepare ourselves better for
the adventures ahead. We have taken steps towards improved survival
skills, in that both of us are strong swimmers, EMT and lifeguard
certified, with a smattering of foreign languages under our belts. We both
work out regularly at a gym, as well as yoga (though I need to go
more). Also I will soon start studying for a HAM licence.
Can anyone suggest activities that would be beneficial? Lets assume we
will travel all over the world fairly evenly.
What languages are the most common out there?
Between us we speak german, french, spanish, korean, japanese and english
(native), but none of them fluently. What would be a good one to focus on?
Is there any special manual skills apart from boat/sail/engine maintenance
and repair and sailing specific skills that would be useful out there?
thanks in advance,
regards
